How non-compete clauses kill innovation

Discussion created by Robin Merl Partner on 23-May-2017

I just bumped into this article at the New York Times. Which argues that non-compete clauses are a reason for a lack of innovation. Basically, they give the Silicon Valley as an example, where after California state law non-compete clauses are prohibited, and put forward that this is a huge reasons why the Silicon Valley is where it is today.

Here is the article. I am wondering if any of you out there had to sign one and what your thoughts are on this. Would be interested to hear what people think.
