As also said in the article... "wait, what?".

 

We often say that the considerable upfront investment required for renewables is the main reason why they are not so spread yet, even if in the long-term they are already the cheapest source of electricity, but this astonishing number suggest something else.

 

Anyway, it must be said that the number refers to energy in general, not just electricity.
