Clean Energy Ministerial / Mission Innovation Youth Leaders Forum

The Clean Energy Ministerial / Mission Innovation (CEM/MI) Youth Parallel Program is a first of its kind opportunity for young people around the globe. Participants will get to be part of two innovative initiatives that are working to unite governmental action to deliver our sustainable future. Fifty participants will be selected to engage their communities on clean energy and innovationand then participate in the youth forum alongside the upcoming CEM10 / MI-4 Ministerials held in Vancouver, Canada, May 26-29, 2019.

This is an incredible opportunity for young people (age 18-30) to engage with governments and clean energy companies from Canada and around the world and connect with leading minds in the global clean energy transition. The event also highlights stories from youth that are advancing research and innovation in the following areas.

  • Renewable Energy

  • Nuclear energy

  • Carbon Capture, Storage and Utilization

  • Women in Energy

  • Energy Access & Efficiency

  • Smart Grids

  • Energy Storage

  • Sustainable Cities, Eco-energy towns and Efficient Buildings

  • Renewable and Clean Hydrogen

  • Clean Energy Policy

  • Electric Vehicles

  • Sustainable Biofuels

  • Engagement in Clean Energy and Sustainability

At the forum, youth participants will have opportunities to interact with clean energy leaders. Activities could include meeting with government officials, participating in parts of the Conferences, working with partner organizations to solve challenges, and sharing their clean energy and innovation stories with the world. Participants will have the chance to engage their local communities on energy and bring these results to the CEM / MI Ministerial, connecting with clean energy leaders from government, business and academia from around the world. Participants in this program will form the first-ever youth delegation to the conference.

Note: You need to be of between 18-30 years and should hold a passport from one of the following countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom,  the United States and the European Commission: (Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia)

Applications for the Youth Leaders Forum will be accepted from participants residing in countries that are not included in the list above. In the event that applications are not filled from certain member countries, special consideration will be given to applicants from non-member countries of the Clean Energy Ministerial or Mission Innovation to attend the Youth Leaders Forum.

The Youth Forum is spearheaded by Student Energy, a global charity organisation that empowers youth to become the change agents who will shape our energy future. It works with actors in the energy system to create a space for young people to have a voice in decision- making and accelerate innovation in industry and government.

Clean Energy Ministerial  (CEM) is a high-level global forum to promote policies and programs that advance clean energy technology, to share lessons learned and best practices, and to encourage the transition to a global clean energy economy. Initiatives are based on areas of common interest among participating governments and other stakeholders.
