Waiting for hot water in showers and taps is a common experience in buildings.
Conventional solutions address this problem by recirculating hot water in pipes continuously to ensure that water is maintained hot in the distribution system. This approach leads to significant energy losses (thermal and electrical) which is a limitation to the energy efficiency of the domestic hot water systems in buildings because this waste can represent more than 50% of the whole energy consumed by the water heater systems.
How to address this and encounter the saving potential?
The CommUnity by Innoenergy Lisbon is thrilled to announce its first Speaker Series event of the year!

Founder and Managing Director at Heaboo, Lda at Heaboo, LdaRui Teixeira received the Degree of Mechanical Engineer (5years) by the University of Aveiro in 2007 and a PhD in Energy Engineering (3years) by the Technical University of Ostrava in 2010 where he developed a strategy to simulate an innovative experimental gasification device to convert solid waste into usable gas. During his PhD studies he was teacher assistant for the subjects “Heat Transfer” and “Power Centrals” in the Department of Mechanical Engineering in the University of Ostrava. Rui Teixeira joined the University of Aveiro in 2011 for a Post Doc scholarship (4years) in 2 different R&D projects in co-promotion with 2 Portuguese companies. In the first project he coordinates de R&D of an innovative medical device to control intravenous fluids temperature independently of the set flow or usage environment. In the second project he coordinates the R&D of an innovative solar energy façade for both water and air heating that promotes the passive ventilation and air renovation. During this period he also conduct R&D tasks with an idea based on an innovative device to improve the solar energy utilization for water heating in periods of low performance of the solar panels. Currently Rui Teixeira is the managing director and founder of the company Heaboo, Lda that develops innovative devices for the correction of the domestic hot water response time based in a passive method.
