Open Space Studio - Catalyst training

Blog Post created by reddykrrish on 11-Aug-2017

Dear InnoEnergy students,

You probably have heard about the Open Space Studio in one way or another. Perhaps you might have heard of one of our projects “Open Space Studio for ENTECH” or maybe you have heard about the Co-Creation events at TU/e with different students teams. Perhaps you all remember what we achieved together at the Master School KICK Off event where you got an impression of a Co-Creation or you have experienced the Open Space Studio way (done by alumni) during the Co-Creation workshops in CommUnity events such as the AlumniUnite.

The Open Space Studio is growing and we start to work more and more together with several companies. We are progressing to our next step to open up the possibility for all InnoEnergy students to be part of Open Space Studio Co-Creation session/workshops and contribute to solutions in the sustainable energy sector. It is a possibility to learn more about what it takes to be a catalyst and how you can be one and it is also about personal growing.

What is an Open Space Studio Co-Creation event?

Co-Creative events gather leaders from across an organisation’s eco-system into co-creative community to cultivate and harvest from their collective competence. Co-Creative events influence quality of relationship among participants, bringing clearer focus, individual & collective engagement and performance. Co-Creative events are innovative experiences designed to take participants through a designed meeting format that maximises the chances for those present to co-create solutions from the group’s ‘collective mind’.  All these events are always tailor-made and adapted to the challenges the ‘client’ has. We create a space of trust and awareness to inspire, encourage and explore new ways of working together.

What is a catalyst of Co-Creation?

A catalyst of co-creation is a person who supports awareness within himself or herself and in others, nurtures connections amongst people and stimulates generative dialogues between people. A catalyst has also an understanding of the co-creative methodologies.

What is your benefit in such Co-Creation events?

Your professional benefit is to get a prior understanding and knowledge about the methodology of a co-creative process. You learn about group dialogues in a constructive way and it great opportunity to have your fingerprint on the progress of ‘real’ industry challenges.

On a personal level, you will get a deeper understanding to practise empathy. You will be able to understand and communicate with different people in different environments/cultures and be able to engage and build valuable relationships.

What do we expect from you?

Just be yourself with an open mind and an open heart. With your enthusiasm, your multicultural experience and your curiosity there’s a lot to learn and gain.

How does it work?

You have the opportunity to be part of our student catalyst pool. Let us know why you would like to contribute. Furthermore, you will receive a 2-day training, with dates and location to be determined based on the number and geography of the applicants. The training will be about self-leadership, types of conversations, intercultural aspects and co-creation methods.

What is then the next step?

Once you receive the training you will be invited to participate in our future industry events. Generally we have 5-10 students per event.

What are  the costs?

We will ask you for a small contribution of 150€ for the 2-day training. All the other training costs (travel, accommodation etc.) are covered by the Open Space Studio.

Quote by Robin Merl (InnoEnergy Alumnus) :

“Participating in an Open Space Studio workshop together with a major industrial player was a great experience as an InnoEnergy Alumnus. I found great pleasure in the way the seminar was facilitated and in the results that were attained in such a short time frame”.
